What I Learned with Steve

What I Learned with Steve

So, I recently had an incredible series on my podcast with special guest Steve Ciesielski, and wow, did we dive into some topics.

During our conversation, Steve and I delved into the uncomfortable aspects of discussing race, culture, and diversity in today’s society. We touched on the fear of open conflict, the discomfort of raising specific issues, the importance of being open and honest with our conversations, and much more.

One particularly eye-opening moment for me was realizing my discomfort with referring to Steve as a “white guy.” It made me reflect on my upbringing and how societal perceptions had influenced my language and perceptions. This realization has been a crucial learning experience for me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to gain deeper insights.

In addition, Steve shared a story about a coworker’s raw and vulnerable experience as a black woman in the workplace. It made me realize the power of one-on-one connections and the importance of being fully present and empathetic in those moments. This podcast is about the ability to have bold, honest conversations, like the one I had with Steve.

I encourage you to check out the three episodes of the series. I want to continue these meaningful discussions and hope to provide valuable insights for both you and myself.

Stay tuned for more.
